The Foundation Course is an introduction to the essential oil experience! The information will provide you with a valuable, lifelong reference guide to the healing properties of essential oils. Includes Distillation methods / Blending / Chemistry of essential oils / Physiology of skin / Immune system / Methods of application/ Safety data / Emotions / Oils in ancient cultures and much more. Twenty three essential oils are introduced. This course is a prerequisite for Level II courses.

Course 2 Aromabotany with Elizabeth Jones	May 13 - Jul 1 Wed 9:00am - 1:00pm 32 hrs/CEUs	$480
The abstract and mysterious quality of essential oils become a living botanical reality as students study the plants of their origin. Students study photosynthesis and flower reproduction, as well as exploring various plant parts. This class includes field trips to botanical gardens in the Santa Cruz area. Students also participate in the planting and upkeep of COBHA’s botanical garden.
Course 4 Essential Oil Chemistry with Amanda Lattin and Larry Jones	Jul 10 - Jul 13 Fri-Mon 9:30am - 4:00pm 30 hrs/CEUs	$450
Students gain a deeper appreciation of essential oil functional groups in this course. The meaning of optical isomers, ethers, and oxides is clarified, along with the reason why some essential oils heal and others are toxic. The class offers some hands-on experience in distillation using equipment for steam, steam and water, and solvent extractions. Larry Jones provides students with a greater understanding of GC/MS (GasChromatography/Mass Spectrometry) analysis of essential oils and why it is important in order to guarantee their quality and purity.
Course 8 Communication and Business Skills with Suzy Hunt and Elizabeth Jones	May 13 - Jun 3 Wed 5:00pm - 9:00pm 16 hrs/CEUs	$240
This course focuses on the ethics of being an Aromatherapy Practitioner. Through communication skills, the student learns how to develop a sound relationship with clients. Also covered: How to start a business, keep records, and maintain other legal considerations. Students prepare a business plan and/or design a brochure and a business card.
Course 9 Clinical Practice Theory with Elizabeth Jones and Kathryn Nance	May 7 - Jun 18 Thu 2:00pm - 5:00pm 21 hrs/CEUs	$315
This course works in conjunction with Course 10 (Clinical Internship). Students discuss their experience from the clinic. Fellow students offer support and suggestions in dealing with client issues. Ways to improve structure and functioning of clinic are explored. Setting up an ideal clinical situation is a written assignment.
Course 10 Clinical Practice Internship with Elizabeth Jones	May 14 - Jun 25 Thu 8:30am - 12:30pm Jun 10 - Jun 24 Wed 5:00pm - 9:00pm 36 hrs/CEUs	$540
During this course, students apply the knowledge acquired from all Level I and Level II courses. Students create a clinic atmosphere, schedule appointments, publicize their clinic to the community, and maintain records. During the Clinic, students interview clients, assess their condition holistically, do a reflexology treatment, create a custom blend and offer healthy lifestyle suggestions.

We here at COBHA are pleased and proud to offer a rich diversity of excellent workshops featuring predominantly local healers. Our monthly workshops offer a great opportunity for students to continue their professional growth and personal development in the healing arts, as well as for members of the greater community to share in the wealth. Level One students are encouraged to commit to 2-4 elective credits, and Level II graduates 4-8 credits per year.
The Art of the Intake Process for Creating Healthy Blends with Evelyn Hall	Mar 22 Sun 11:00am - 3:00pm (1 elective)	$45
The intake process is the most valuable tool you have to create healing blends for your client. Practice using the intake form from COBHA and go deeper into it. Learn the basic skills of reading body language, feeling the energy behind the words, and calling on the deeper wisdom of yourself, your client, and the plants to create a blend of oils that will be of most benefit.

In this hands-on experience, learn about the art, science and history of Reflexology. The energy of the meridian points are mapped out on the feet that correlate with systems and organs of the body. Intuitive Development and Energy Healing Series with Deborah Malka, M.D., Ph.D.	May 17 Sun 9:00am - 1:00pm (1 elective)	$45
Part 3: Intuitive Development Learn the principles of dowsing and how to perform it for health questions. Receive training in how to gain information from a client’s energetic field. Learn how to intuitively choose an appropriate treatment for one’s self and one’s clients. Perform case examples with volunteer clients.

Come learn the art of hydro and steam distillation - from plant to hydrosol. Kathryn will take students through the harvesting, preparing, and distilling processes important to all herb and flower enthusiasts. Limited to 12.
