The Essential Oil Foundation Correspondence Course

The College of Botanical Healing Arts offers a fabulous and thorough Correspondence Course in Essential Oil Therapy. This is a special opportunity to work with our amazing faculty from home while educating yourself on the healing and detoxifying properties of 23 essential oils and their impact on the mind, body, and soul!

The aromatic and detoxifying power of essential oils is an ancient and modern commonality that binds all humans together.  An awareness of the healing properties of essential oils is a precious tool that all healers can use to better their own lives and the lives of those around them. A cohesive knowledge of the powers of these oils offered to us as medicines by Mother Nature can empower you to alleviate dis-ease and to further unfold your unique relationship with plant medicines. The College of Botanical Healing Arts in Santa Cruz understands the importance of a comprehensive education in the healing arts of essential oil therapy and offers an intensive curriculum for all students interested in becoming masters at using essential oils for healing the skin, immune, lymphatic, and endocrine systems, as well as the mind and emotions.  The College understands that not everyone who wants to learn about essential oil therapy can take a class out of their location in Santa Cruz, and so Elizabeth Jones, the founder of COBHA, has created a special take home correspondence course so that you can teach yourself about the fragrant wisdom of essential oils regardless of where you are in the world.

Our Level 1 Correspondence Foundation Course in Essential Oil Therapy offers a rich and fascinating study which includes the comprehensive profiles of 23 oils, history of the oils, organic chemistry, how these oils interact with skin, immune system, lymphatic and endocrine systems, mind, spirit, and emotions. You will learn how to blend with measurement charts, how to do facials and massages for various skin types and body healing, the values of carrier oils, essential oil facial steams, essential oil first aid kit, essential oil safety and precautions, and much, much more.

The course offers many methods by which you will learn. The video DVD gives you the opportunity to see some of our students interacting and sharing their case studies. The audio CD’s are very clear, calming recordings by Elizabeth Jones and correspond with each lesson and assignment. The 140-page manual is laid out in an easy-to-follow outline format including many effective pictures and drawings. It will be your complete study guide, along with the excellent lifetime reference book “Aromatherapy: An A – Z” by Patricia Davis and the beautiful and informative "Awaken to Healing Fragrance" by Elizabeth Jones. After completing, at your own pace, the homework, 3 case studies, a quiz, and an exam you will receive an official College of Botanical Healing Arts Certificate of Completion for the Level 1 Foundation Course in Essential Oil Therapy. Coursework can be submitted by mail or email and is graded by COBHA faculty.

The College of Botanical Healing Arts offers the most extensive learning program in the United States. All courses COBHA offers are approved by the Bureau for Private and Post-secondary Vocational Training, California Nursing Association for CEUs, and NAHA (National Association of Holistic Aromatherapists). Our courses exceed NAHA’s standards for education in the Aromatherapy field.

After the completion of the Level One Foundation course, you may take our Level II classes by Webcam if you wish to pursue our 421 hour certification program to become a CEOT (Certified Essential Oil Therapist).
