College of Botanical Healing Arts

About COBHA:

History, Status and Facility:

The College was established in September 1997. It is a nonprofit institution with a 501(c)3 Status with the IRS and the State of California. An Advisory Committee consists of John Steele, Krishna Madappa, and Jeanne Rose.

The building and land were purchased for the purpose of establishing a College dedicated to the botanical healing arts with a focus on essential oils. A small teacher-student ratio provide a supportive environment for healing and professional development. The surrounding land of 1/3 acre is being developed as a botanical garden from which essential oils and herbs are derived and distilled for use in classes.

Goals of the College of Botanical Healing Arts:

  1. To develop an Aromatherapy College based on national standards with a curriculum dedicated to excellence.
  2. To prepare students to be qualified and certified in the therapeutic and safe uses of essential oils.
  3. To offer a program that seeks to illuminate the innate wisdom within each student.
  4. To install in students a commitment to ethical practices and good work habits.
  5. To nourish the ideal of healing services that address the whole person: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects.
  6. To qualify students to assume professional responsibilities in the health care field, working in conjunction with other health practitioners.

Certification Program:

The 390 hour Aromatherapy Practitioner Certification Program includes the Level I Foundation Course (36 hours), ten Level II classes (286 hours), and 68 elective credits from classes and/or workshops. Upon successful completion of the program with a grade C or better, students receive a professional Certificate of Completion.
